Lessons On Living... From Randy Pausch

"Brick walls make us prove how badly we want things. They stop those who don't want it badly enough." ~Randy Pausch

Every time I see or hear Randy Pausch, I am filled with mixed emotions. He is such a phenomenal person! And although I marvel at his humanity and the legacy he is living, I am so deeply upset that his space on the planet will one day be physically empty.
Recently I was over at Joel Christopher's Master List Building site and he had this video there. How can a person with so little time live larger, better and share more about living life fully than most of us?
During the lecture, Randy shows a photo of himself as the "child dreamer," and you can still sense this in him as an adult. His incredible strength as he faces the future with the same boyish wonder, has not only made him a hero to me, but to millions of others around the world as well.
At one point, Randy mentions a professor who had "Dutch Uncled" him. It feels like he has found a way to return the favor by presenting this life altering message to a starving world.
Randy Pausch inspires me to be a better person. Using my life and talents to make a difference in the world on a massive scale is one of my dreams. I hope you too, will be uplifted to make a difference in someone's life today.

Listening To Your Inner Voice What would life be like if you were a tender aged 19, and just won the $35 million Powerball lottery? One young man who listened to the "voice" in his head, is finding that out. I just thought I would share his story with you as an encouragement to the power of our thoughts, when mixed with action. AOL News reported today that Jonathan Vargas of South Carolina purchased his first lottery ticket ever, selecting numbers based on family birth dates. You can go here to read the full story. Hello to old and new site visitors alike. I know many of you are probably wondering why I call this the "new and improved" Success Chronicle, when much on the surface hasn't changed yet. For me, these changes are happening on both an inward and outward level. Ultimately, the result will be a much better resource for you, and a more efficient management system for me, so we all win. Quick reminder about the upcoming "Google Analytics" seminar May 22, 2008. There may still be time to sign up if you haven't done so already.

Have you noticed lately that a lot of people are looking for something else to do in life? I'm talking about Physicians or Lawyers who have become Musicians, Teachers who return to school to become Caterers or Florists.
This isn't a new trend, I think because much of the stigma has been removed from mid-life, or mid-career switching, people feel more empowered to change.
I was reading a review of a book called "Doing Work You Love" recently, by Cheryl Gilman that discussed similar topics.
According to Gilman, a key question was how to first learn what your naturally developed talent(s) were, then once discovered, how did you know best where to use them in the work environment.
Gilman also favors instructing young people on how to find their own unique paths in life. What a lot of wasted time that would save, if we all learned to listen to the ebbs and flows of our own body rhythms early on in life.
This is an excellent book that can really help others struggling to live and work in a fast paced world, but who seek the serenity of a much calmer lifestyle.
Tools are provided to help you really discover what it is you love, and there is guidance for all, whether you're currently employed, out of work, or unhappily employed.
You owe it to yourself to take charge of your life and live it to the fullest. To read more about the book yourself, you might want to take a look below.

I'm here without you baby Personal Growth and Blogging Success Image from Flickr Success, personal growth and I have at times appeared to be on a collision course. Lately, that feeling has intensified so I am looking at many new options for my blog baby, Success Chronicle, which I'm reasonably proud of. Of course there's always room for growth, but isn't that the same with life? I've learned so much this past year about nurturing my own inner dreams and goals. It's been a great joy to re-discover my love of sculpting, dancing and sketching. In fact, I might just show off the first piece I ever sculpted (not having a clue how to make a porcelain doll or what the heck I was doing). Somehow, the clay block just felt like a part of me, so it was fun anyway. Alright, I can't help showing it to you so look through the flickr images at the end of this post. The bottom line I suppose, is that I needed to see that this search for self discovery and Financial Freedom comes in many shapes, sizes and time frames. Each of us will have our own unique definition for what that means. Our life challenges are varied, our degrees of commitment to relationships and significant others are different, and the levels of experience and frustrations we bring will not be the same. In order to define our own versions of success, sometimes it's critical to slow down to speed up. Over the next few months, Success Chronicle will be making many behind the scenes changes and upgrades so that I can make your visiting experience here even richer. **This is what happened the first time I ever sculpted anything.
