“Don’t Bail. The Best Gold Is At The Bottom Of Barrels Of Crap.” ~ Selected from the video

Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch, living his final days making a difference in the lives of others. I posted a video from this phenomenal man a while back.

YouTube site where the video originated from, it’s disturbing to see several people questioning the motives, soul and integrity of the speaker. Others felt he should be delivering a “nobler or more philosophical” message as these were, after all, some of the last words he would speak.

Featured on one of the major networks, many viewers felt his situation was exploited for the sake of ratings. Are we really that desperate for entertainment? I truly hope not. Maybe we should all be considering doing something as monumental as Blog Action Day, in that united, perhaps we can bring about more focused and positive changes in society and the world.

Anyway, I’m a supporter of making your life matter, and I think it’s awesome that Randy Pausch was making an impact long before his illness.

Here’s an entry of his last lecture, followed by links to the other segments.

Blog Action Day is almost here so do your part for the environment. This is an important event and one I’m proud to be some small part of.

If you haven’t already signed up to be a part of this, there is still time. Visit this link to sign up.

October 15, 2007 will be a great day for the environment. Blogs large (Mashable, TreeHugger, John Chow, and Read/WriteWeb) and small (special people like you and I) are all critical additions to the cause.

I’ve declared today, “Fix-It Friday!” Today is a brand new opportunity to get some of those things done that you promised yourself you would at the beginning of the year.

I’m not talking about things around the house, or outside in the yard though. I mean inside of you, and your life. What’s working in your relationships, and which are toxic, so they need a big “heave-ho out the door?” I’ve previously posted on the meaning of success, but the search will probably never really be over. It’s a natural part of life to want to improve, right?

“With The Seven Success Strategies For Your Business And Life,” Steven Aitchison of Change Your Thoughts introduces guest blogger Ponn M. Sabra, a phenomenal woman who has overcome tremendous odds. Though partially paralyzed, she is successfully raising 3 children, writing books and becoming a networking sensation!

What have you done about those weight loss goals? Visit my friend Jes’s Fitness Blog for inspiration and encouragement. It’s all about lifestyle choices. This year, I have really been proud of the steps I’m taking to get myself and my family on a healthier path.

“Success: What Skills Do You Need?” is a pretty important question posed by WorkFrom HomeMomma. Is it based on how much you earn? How much power you have? What about popularity, does that measure how successful a person is? Read two additional thoughts on success by visiting the site.

Many people have always wanted to travel the world, myself included. I really admire my friend Mark, who has an absolutely fab-o apartment (which he also rents out) in Costa Esuri.
Learn great money saving tips and successful strategies for your finances by visiting this new site I came across called “Get Rich Slowly.”

My mission in life is to improve my life, so that I am able to uplift and encourage others. I truly believe in the law of attraction and have been working to learn as much about application as possible. For inspiration, I often read Suzie’s blog The Abundance Highway.

Today is all about going for “it” whatever that means to you. I come across many blogs that proclaim today is the day! That’s so true. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve heard people speak about “someday” wanting to do this or that. Then they find their lives are over and opportunity to do what they desired is gone forever.

Perhaps the spouse they intended to do the thing with has now passed on, or the children are grown with lives of their own, friends have become distant and health has become much less than it used to be.

How sad. Don’t let that “someday dreamer” be you. Go out and live your life full out. You may never get a better time than the one you have today.

          Make it a fantastic day!

Britney Spears keeps turning up in everything from courts to internet marketing sales letters these days! What do you think? Are you Britney weary yet?

I just got an email/sales letter from a marketer wondering if Britney Spears was smarter than I was, because she gets to celebrate all the time without having to do any work.

The article was really about leverage even though I “got” that the intended spin was to tie the topic to a celebrity.

After an “in your face” comment comparing and questioning the level of intelligence of the reader, the marketer immediately went into a sales spiel for the latest and greatest item on the market.

Over the past few months I’ve gotten several of these type emails, some of them daring to ask, “_____, Are You Freakin’ Stupid?!” Now, maybe it’s just me, and I’m easily annoyed today, but I’m getting really tired of this.

Share your thoughts. Are you getting hammered by this type of “marketing” too?
